Mackinac Island Bed and Breakfasts

Great information on the range of bed and breakfast style accommodation on Mackinac Island.

If you’re stressed out at work, have had enough of the bustling city and need a getaway adventure then Mackinac Island is for you. It is quite conveniently located if you happen to live within easy driving distance from Lake Huron, and is a favorite break for Detroit residents. Mackinac Island is known for its historical landmarks and events, such as its renowned fur trading history. The island is also known for its pristine natural and animal-loving environment.

Traveling to Mackinac is not complete without a great place to stay. There are lots of places to stay on Mackinac island but I assure you that the bed and breakfasts are something you need to check out. One of the best known B&Bs is the Bay View. It is known as the most romantic place when it comes to bed and breakfasts. They offer a great experience from the ferry boat from St. Ignace to the bed and breakfast itself. The Bay View was built way back 1891 and still has the family heritage feeling as well as the Victorian ambience which really is quite unique to Mackinac Island. The food at the Bay View shows why they are well known; they serve a great variety of gourmet meals where you find yourself eating out on the veranda where your food is served for you, the most delicious cookies are made by the cook every afternoon and lastly mouth watering desserts in the evening made especially for customers after which night owls can enjoy the bottomless cup of Bay View coffee on offer. Aside from the great surroundings and food they offer, the Bay View bed and breakfast also has great staff that are more than willing to help you enjoy your stay. From the guard to the desk they offer a highly praised accommodating ambience that is warm and welcoming.

The next bed and breakfast we recommend is one of the oldest on Mackinac island. The Cloghaun B&B was built by Bridget and Thomas Donnelly in 1884; they came from Ireland in 1848. The ambience of a charming, loving home still remains and is preserved by their descendants. Every customer is treated with respect and a smile. Accommodating staff is just one aspect, however. Claghaun is located in Market Street just a block away from the harbor and is therefore located near restaurants and other attractions of the island.

Feel free to try these bed and breakfasts and enjoy your time as a Mackinac Island tourist to the fullest. This is a great place for an escape, fell free to relax, enjoy and experience firsthand. Don’t forget to bring your pets, because Mackinac island is also known as a pet friendly island.
